KISIP2 staff equipped with geodatabase skills after key training

A section of KISIP2 staff recently underwent a key training aimed at empowering them with geodatabase and cloud server management skills.

The four-day exercise which took place at a Machakos hotel, followed a move by Component 3, which recently developed the National Geodatabase of Slums and Informal Settlements – a critical element required for slum data protection and security.

The system will serve as a repository one-stop data center for information collected during the first national mapping of slums and data generated through KISIP2 components. The training is therefore a significant pillar for KISIPs digitization and development of highly secured data storage system.

The component is charged with institutional capacity development for slum upgrading which encompasses undertaking a set of activities designed to strengthen the capacity of counties and national government institutions carry out slum upgrading and prevention.

The State Department for Housing and Urban Development has contracted the Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) cloud hosting services because it guarantees data security and availability. As a requirement, users are therefore needed to have skills and training on the administration of data infrastructure.
